Generative AI Policy

Vallensis Publishing follows the recommendations of ICMJE, COPE, and WAME on the use of generative AI in scholarly publishing.

For Authors

  • AI language tools may be used to assist in manuscript preparation (grammar, text refinement, translation assistance).
  • Such use must be disclosed in the Methods section or Acknowledgements (e.g. "The authors used [tool name] for language editing and take full responsibility for the integrity of the work.").
  • AI tools may not be listed as authors. Authorship requires accountability, which AI tools cannot provide.
  • AI-generated text must not be used to fabricate data, references, or scientific claims.

For Reviewers

Reviewers must not upload manuscript content to AI tools, as this would breach confidentiality obligations.

For Editors

Editorial decisions must be made by human editors and must not be delegated to AI systems.
